The C.I.A.

Christians In Action

James 2:18 (ESV)

“18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

Good Shepherd loves their youth!  We support them mentally and emotionally by strongly encouraging attendance and worshiping with them at Sunday School, Church Services, and Youth Group Activities.  We support them financially by paying half the cost for Camp Okoboji and Iowa District West activities, and the full cost of the Annual Camping Trip, as well as supplementing their fundraising efforts for countless youth activities.  The church wants the youth to know about the love of Jesus and the Faith we find in Him.

Speaking of Faith...
Faith is the word used to describe our C.I.A. (Christians In Action).  The C.I.A. group is designed for 9th grade through college.  These young adults have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and show it in their actions.  We see this in their personal day to day serving and telling people about Jesus as well as specific times when they help with the Easter Breakfast, cleaning up at Camp Okoboji and service events to the church and community. This group welcomes and encourages the Jr. C.I.A. to continue in youth group as they are confirmed in the church. Everyone wants to see our young people continue growing in the faith of the Lord.

The C.I.A comes together to have a lot of fun, including our Annual Camping Trip in the spring with Pastor Thackery, to the Senior Youth Gathering in the fall, and Camp Okoboji in the summer.

Jr. C.I.A.

The Jr. C.I.A. is designed for grades 6 through 8. They too are very important to Good Shepherd as they continue to build their foundation in God’s Word to prepare them to go out into the world to tell people about Jesus.

This group has activities designed especially for them such as the Iowa District West Junior Youth Gathering in the fall, as well as the Junior High Week at Camp Okoboji in the summer.  They are also often invited to join the C.I.A. in several activities, especially the Annual Camping Trip with Pastor Thackery which provides quality bonding time so they are comfortable transitioning to C.I.A.
